I work as a consultant on a range of issues involving the interactive web, and options and opportunities for reaching out and connecting online. A lot of this involves using these resources to more effectively market with a focus on building active,…
I wanted to share some news with fellow My Virtual Power Forum members. I am currently posting an ongoing series of short articles on job search strategy and tactics with a focus on using business networking. I also post on a range of other topics o…
Hi Michael and thanks for your thoughtful comments. I have in fact started shortening my postings and with feedback like yours in mind. I just posted an admittedly longer segment of a business analysis, I just sent out as a posting of 500 words. I w…
Hi Timothy,

I am looking for new opportunities in either full time more permanent positions, or in consulting. I have enjoyed working in both for-profit and not for profit sectors, and have developed a focus on Web 2.0 and its application in supporting organizations and their clients. In this, I design and manage strategically effective Web 2.0 enabled intranets and other internal information infrastructure resources (Enterprise 2.0) as well as outwardly reaching web sites and supporting online resources.
I live in Brooklyn, NY and am currently thinking of keeping New York City as my home base, but I can and do work anywhere I can reach by plane and in or out of the United States. I lived and worked in Central America for a year, for example.
An ideal position for me would be one where I work in a dynamic, creative environment on challenging problems. I love working with great teams to solve problems where together, we can have a positive impact. I am looking to network with hiring managers and recruiters and with others in general to share ideas and leads.
Timothy Platt is a published research scientist who has worked on information systems and the web for over 12 years in the nonprofit and commercial sectors. He has worked in almost every aspect of IT from hands-on programming to online marketing, risk management and strategic planning, and general IT and online services development and management.
He served as interim CIO for a major automotive retail that needed IT services that would align with their business. All sales leads went through a business development center but its phone and computer systems didn't connect and Sales could not effectively access their inventory database. They were only making sales on 4.7% of leads coming in, against an industry average of 8%. Dr. Platt set up their systems to bring them to a 10% closing ratio with a 30% increase in the total number of leads and with total leads costs held flat.
Much of his experience has been with the Internet, serving as Webmaster, and managing and directing the design and construction of state-of-the-art web sites. At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, he managed front-end design and formatting for eight Society web sites and their Intranet. He worked with web editors and administrators in more than 100 offices across the US and Canada, and with database administrators, back-end programmers and others to keep the web sites functioning effectively. One measure of the success of this effort is that we raised more than $5,000,000 in online donations a year. We also brought in over $5,000,000 of event registrations a year, placing us in the top 1% for non-profit web sites. Dr. Platt has worked with social networking sites and other Web 2.0 services, and with both established businesses and startups.
