Hello Lucas,

I am responding to your comment left for me. To continue this in the future, however, I would prefer to do so via standard email.

Free market understanding the problem. The free market may not understand all of the problem, but government intervention in too many areas often does not benefit the average citizen or consumer. An example that is often cited here in the USA is socialized health care. The Canadians to my north have total government health care required of its entire population yet when critical issues arise, their users often turn to and come the USA for appropriate care on a timely basis. The Canadian system cannot and refuses to act promptly and in some cases will not provide care.

The Marshall Plan. Not sure exactly what you meant. While it was a U S federal initiative to rebuild war-torn European infrastructure using U S funds, it also came late enough that, except for (then) West Germany, the various European economies had already surpassed pre-WWII levels. Accordingly, W.Germany perhaps benefited most from it. The Plan was one of the first elements of European integration, as it erased tariff trade barriers and set up institutions to coordinate the economy on a continental level. With 20-20 hindsight, some historians have questioned the underlying motivation and the overall effectiveness of the Marshall Plan. Others assert that the benefits of the Marshall Plan actually resulted from new laissez-faire policies that allowed markets to stabilize through economic growth.

Yes, Deming is well-known for his effective mgt principles. Am not sure was the difference is, though, between a "mercenary" employee and other employees who are rewarded for effective performance through recognition or financial incentives.

Iceland's thermal energy is great. The challenge for many parts of the world is to access thermal energy. While very nice to have, it has to be affordable....and that is not the case everywhere. I would agree that in the USA, thermal energy has not been considered as often as perhaps it should be.

I do not understand your comment about natural disasters from 1945 to 2005 that free markets could not regulate. Can you please clarify for me?

You and I obviously have different views of what can and cannot be done about "global warming/cooling." My view is that mankind does not really have a significantly large enough impact on the world's climate to affect it. The manmade emissions occur and may be susceptible of measurement in many cases, but that they change the long-term cycles of warming and cooling has not been scientifically validated.

You mentioned the (world wide?) financial breakdown in your comment about O'Bama's GW initiatives. I guess I don't see how the two are connected?

Some efforts related to "controlling" greenhouse gasses (some amounts are of these gasses are needed to avoid overly fast global cooling) are baffling to me. For example, see the article at http://tinyurl.com/8cvj9h; does not make any sense to me. Before we had cattle out here in the Wild West, we had millions of buffalo...so the gas emissions would appear to be a fair exchange from then to now. Also, the amount of tax per animal will more than eliminate the per head profit of cattle raisers. Again, a governmental "solution" with unintended consequences. Remember that the wonderful ethanol flex fuel "solution" to high gasoline prices significantly increased the cost of foodstuffs world wide.

Hoffentlich haben Sie auch einen guten Rutsch ins Neujahr gehabt.

Uebrigens, mein email ist FredBeisser@Mesanetworks.net
