Greetings,

My name is Marleen. I just starting writing as a hobby and found that it is very relaxing. Since I started sharing my work online, I received numerous requests from people wanting to add my articles and Blog posts in their Newsletters; and now someone wants to add one of my posts in their magazine. I was very shocked at the response because I know that my writing skills need a lot of work, but some people are able to look beyond my flaws and focus on my message or content.

Sharing a link that I just came across. You might already know about these sites, but just in case you don't...

I look forward to learning, networking, and sharing with this group.

So, this is the great author, Mitch Mitchell??? Could it be that your legendary writing skills has caused the other writers to suffer the ultimate writer's illness: writer's block? :-) (Or more seriously: could be that they have found their writing stride and don't yet need a forum, at the moment...(FYI: When I put up groups, I put them up for the long term. So, hopefully, it will be of service as circumstances dictate. If someone needs the group, hopefully it will still be here to help 3, 4, 5 years from now.)

As to finding writing gigs, I, personally, haven't been seeking them. Yet, I'm surprised when they come to me from time-to-time. So, I'd have to say that creating and networking within groups is one way that I get writing part-time gigs.

(Still more seriously: Thanks kindly for sharing the lead on Demand Studios. It can help some of our members.)

As for other things to share: a couple of quick ideas:
1. While looking for writing, don't forget to look for copy writing opportunities, as well and
2. Don't forget to check out REAL telecommuting places such as http://www.telecommutect.com/employers/tc_friendly.php

So this is the writer's forum. I keep wondering why there's not more writing here of some type.

Since my last post here, I have been making almost my entire living writing. I started very slow, at a very low rate, and now I'm moving up my rate a little bit at a time. I want and need to make more per article or per hour or per project.

So, the question is how is everyone else finding these writing gigs? Obviously I'm not expecting anyone to give out their client's names, but there are places where people can go to find better paying gigs; I know there are.

To share, if some of you don't know about this one, Demand Studios will give you the opportunity to write articles for as much as $15 per article. If you can get used to it, you could possibly research and write at least one article an hour; hey, it's not super great money, but it's enough to at least get by if you needed something full or part time. And, if you know the subjects, where I've been lucky, you can write two an hour every once in awhile.

Okay, I've shared; who else has something to share?

We will be holding a script contest in the near future. Here is a little about us.
Nightshade studios recently agreed to terms for films they produce or buy for theater distribution. The new agreement is for a guaranteed minimum of 1,400 theaters, which translates to over 2,000 screens. This agreement gives Nightshade Studios a distinctive edge over other independent studios.
Before I go on, let me introduce myself. My name is Rich Carlino, CEO of Nightshade Studios. We officially opened in may,2006. Initially, we offered a script reading service, which has brought us to owning 5 scripts and 1 with an option to buy . Out next initiative was to negotiate an agreement with theaters for the specific purpose of showing our movies. We have developed that very agreement with over 1,400 theaters at a cost that falls well within our budget, which brings us to the present. We are establishing a business presence internationally to further our growth for theaters, sales, distribution, and funding.
As an investment opportunity, our stock offering is not only for the venture capitalist, but also for every person who wished they had a chance to get involved in a business on the ground floor. If you are interested in finding out more, you can email me or go directly to our website. Thank you, Rich Carlino,CEO Nightshade Studios. email= richc@nsfilms.com or www.nsfilms.com

I have been writing for years but have only recently decided to take the plunge into the abyss of publishing. This forum is a great idea, and I can already see much wisdom being shared. I look forward to learning.

I love writing and networking. Thanks for starting up this group Vincent.

I'm in the midst of getting the final edits done for my first book, and feel as if I could write a book simply on the editing process. What a challenge it is to get it all "write."
