Hello, Everyone, I lead a triple life - as many musicians do. I am the singer with a voice and piano duo, www.duobraziliana.com; I own a consulting company, which you can learn more about on my profile; and I co-direct a nonprofit in Arizona, the Cultural Arts Coalition www.artsCare.org/cac.intro.shtml. Duo Braziliana will be releasing a CD in the fall. Look forward to connecting with you.

Hello Linking Musicians Members,

I thought I'd let you know about an opportunity to get (literally) a bird's eye, third-party view of the music composition and recording process of solo electric bass.

My husband, Jeff Schmidt (www.beautiful- bass.com), is hosting fellow solo bass pal Jay Terrien (www.jayterrien. com) in our home studio this weekend to record Jay's new project. All of the weekend sessions are being webcast live with chat capabilities here:

http://www.ustream. tv/channel/ ruiner-severhead -sessions

The project is Jay's alter-ego project, Demond Wilson. Jeff also has an alter-ego project, Ruiner Severhead.

So, I just want to caveat up front that I can't promise that the language and conversation will always be the most professional you've ever heard; Jeff often refers to Jay as his own "Tyler Durden" (Fight Club Movie alter-ego reference). In fact, sometimes the conversation has made this accountant/recruite r blush or worse - get offended. There are definitely aspects of these projects that make me wince as well. Regardless, I truly appreciate the "creative brain" and I understand that it needs to be free to express in order to bring forth wonderful results. If you are not sure you can maintain that openness, then this may not be something you want to do. The sessions are live and real-time and the majority of the time will be serious work in process.

Jay has come prepared with the music written and the tracks fully composed, Jeff is merely acting as a collaborator and musical guide to achieve Jay's plan.

After all these years, I still really enjoy listening to Jeff compose and bring new musical ideas to fruition in his studio, as I go about doing my stuff around the house. Jay's approach seems to be different from Jeff's in that it is more "track focused", but I think the end result will be equally interesting.

Just thought I'd share in case anyone wanted to check it out.

Enjoy and/or have a wonderful Easter and/or Spring weekend (the last part is meant to be a tolerance statement for those not celebrating Easter),
Valerie
