It's About Linking Power!

"I'm happy to be introduced to anyone as long as he's not one of "THOSE"."

Being raised up in the Southern part of the USA in the 1960's at the height of the Civil Rights Movement, I've long paid attention to some of the reasoning of culturally illiterate men and women.

Mind you, sometimes we seem to get away from being able to relate to others only by classifying them according to race, gender, age, ethnicity, etc.

But, alas, even in today's suped up world of online networking, we still run into situations where someone in your network asks the question, "He's not one of THOSE, is he?"

Having spent more than 50 years experiencing this subject, I've gotten somewhat used to processing it - dismissing it more often than not.

Yet, it's so interesting to observe manifestations of cultural illiteracy among otherwise brilliant men and women.

It's interesting that you can happily network with someone for months, years even, and suddenly when it comes time to work on a project together, all momentum can stop when we disclose each other's cultural backgrounds.

For goodness sakes! What on EARTH is so appetizing to humans about certain ingrained beliefs that we just can't/won't let them go?

Some of us have complete disdain for people we've never even met, people who've never personally done us any harm.

At the same time, some of us easily, easily, all too easily forget how much pain people just like ourselves have brought into our lives.

No culture on Earth is immune from members of that culture harming its members.

Yet, some of us still insist on blaming ENTIRE cultures - as if none of us can break the grips of the cultures.

There are greater, more valuable things on Earth than the cultures which CLAIM us.

If we can break the grip of gravity and fly beyond the ground, we can break the grip of the cultures which ground us in less than stellar behaviors towards one another.

Irrespective of the culture in which they were raised, my personal network includes men and women who want to advance humanity, not merely claim it for an exclusive group of people.

It all belongs to US!

At least, that's what I CLAIM...

Thanks, and Keep STRONG!!
