Have You Taken Time To Plan For Financial Emergencies?

Can you get a thousand dollars US, today? Well, bless you if you can! I know LOTS of people - FAR TOO MANY people who cannot.

So that rhetorical question aside: PLAN to be able to easily get a thousand dollar. I know that that’s “pocket money” or “chump change” to many of the millionaires on this list – and I know you’re here!:-) - but, at minimum, a professional, well-educated adult should PLAN to be able to get emergency money. It’s unsafe in this world if you can’t do that. (Actually, it’s unsafe in this world even if you can do that but, you get my point! )

Bottom line: Have you taken time to plan for financial emergencies? (They DO happen, you know!)fina

Ok, so how do you plan to get emergency money? Savings? I have been through them. CD's, stocks, bonds? Never yet made enough to buy them. Loans to people? Tricky - and works if you make enough to give them in the first place.

I'm not being facetious here. My financial life and career are in a shambles; I'm up to my eyeballs in debt with no money coming in. My friends and family are on varying spots of the same line, close to me. Recall the "average the amounts your five friends make and it will be around what you make"? That's true - they are either on the low scale or get money given to them.

I don't want an 8-5, but that or less seems to be how things go. Been there, done that, was unhappy, often very unhappy for several years.

I'm obviously no expert, but thought I could learn from the rest of you, so I would be prepared later. Maybe from Mario's note, I'm in the wrong group?

Theresa... stick around. There are many good people here. And, one thing's for sure.. you're not alone in your trouble. I'm building my own bridge out of the financial darkness I'm in. I have zero extra dollars to "plan" anything and it's very, very frustrating. But, like being lost in the jungle... you can not panic or you're doomed.

Pick a direction... pick it for a reason and a purpose.... start moving that direction in any manner you know how... and.. most importantly... learn new things along the way to help get you there. Keep your mind open. (frustration and panic make it very difficult to "see").

Hang in there. Believe you can get "there" and you shall. Simple.. but not easy.

So... now, for me, it's back to "hacking my way out of the jungle". See you around.
