Job Description To provide Life and Pension (L&P) domain expertise as a member of both Pre-Sales AND Project Delivery teams, providing software solutions to insurance customers, mainly in the CANADA and possibly also in USA/Canada or Europe. The principal focus is on sound L&P insurance business knowledge rather than in-depth IT or project management skills. Overall Experience Profile Candidates will have extensive experience (at least 10 years continuous) of working within the Canada L&P insurance industry (and possibly overseas too), either as a business analyst or as a key business representative in a major insurance systems development/migration (preferably both roles), involving: • Analysing business processes and flows for a wide range of product types • Writing well articulated business requirements specifications and contributing external designs • Providing creative solutions to business problems • Liaison between development team and business users Principal Roles & Responsibilities • Pre-Sales activities such as: RFI, RFP, sales cycle support, presentations, demos, solution workshops, etc • Lead system functional gap analysis projects and ensure capture of quality requirements • Active participation in solution delivery projects as required. In all this context, the ability to talk to business users (at all levels) in their own language with a high degree of common understanding is paramount • Help the business to formulate IT solutions to specific business problems, and present these solutions to customers and prospects with clarity and authority • Lead Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions with users as required to define the scope and content of the overall solution and solution components
Skill Required MUST HAVE - A broad-based and demonstrable knowledge of the CANADA L&P and Investment industry, including: • L&P Product knowledge o a deep understanding of CANADA L&P products, ‘old’ and ‘new’. • L&P Operational knowledge o a detailed understanding of most operational aspects of an L&P company. o a familiarity with the various roles and responsibilities within a typical insurance company and how these are fulfilled. This understanding would extend to an appreciation of the various distribution channels employed in the industry. • Legislation o an understanding of the major legislative and regulatory regimes that govern the conduct and operation of L&P companies, and how changes in the past have affected product design and operational focus. DESIRABLE - Experience in a relevant role in USA/Canada or European country would be very useful. General Skills • A results-orientated person; an achiever who reliably get things done; comfortable with tight deadlines whilst being focussed on the quality of deliverables • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including preparation and giving of presentation • Able to facilitate workshops to drive out requirements from business and technical people • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to establish positive relationships with colleagues and customers
